I've been pretty occupied since I last threw up anything on my DA page.
I'm still probably not going to upload as much onto here since I've been working on my sketchblog and own personal website. But I have been seeing some fabulous deviations, features and been keeping up with journals so yeah I'm still on here, lurking.
I do intend to eventually comment on stuff that really catches my eye but of course time is getting shorter and shorter.
Because I do daily posts on my sketchblog I'm way more active on http://tyates-on.tumblr.com/
So mosey on over if you're interested.
: O
Hey, I've hit over 200 posts over there and am still rolling
Hello 2011!
I come with new dreams, more hope and a daily Sketchblog!:
http://tyates-on.tumblr.com/
Some of you may already know about my "rek" tumblr account. It's full of nonsense I like to collect and I'm going to keep it that way. This new account is my attempt at being a little big more serious business and less secretive about the junk I'm up to. It will probably be filled with a lot of nonsense too but it'll be all my personal nonsense.
Oh yeah, and you can ask me questions about the process on any project on my sketchblog!
The first ten people to comment on this journal get three features of my choice from their gallery. You must do the same in return though! If you've done one in the past week, show me and that'll count ;D It's NOT a must (but if you do it would be very appreciated), but if you answer, you’ll have to do the same in your journal, putting me on the first place. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone!

Usually having some sort of prompt, a starting point helps me out. I like to look towards stories (both fact and fiction), mythology and science for inspiration.
Occasionally I go back to random notes I've written myself at try to see if there's anything salvageable from that. I do a lot of observation drawing so I can often draw from that too-- even though the stuff is no longer in front of me. Unless I'm just doodling aimlessly I absolutely need some kind of idea to work from. Hope this helps!
